Setting the working space

I have just purchased the Pantone Optical and Profiler Plus. I have created the monitor profile using the colorimeter and now I am ready to create profiles for printing. When I set the RGB working space should I set it to Adobe 1998 as stated in the instructions for ProfilerPlus or use the newly created RGB profile from Optical??? If not when does this profile come into play? Sorry, but I am trying to learn how color management works - ugh!
