Before you toss your Mits or LaCie's: if you are having luminance/brightness issues and your Mit/LaCie OSD offers .7 volt or 1.0 volt video clamp options: change the option. .7 will only allow about a max 86lum. 1.0 will allow up to 120-plus lum (depending on your set resolution). Profile the other option.
