I hardly see the IProof PowerRip 2000 in the discussion, only Best and
Colorbyte. The Iproof is not so expensive, but is it worth looking at at
all? The Rip needs to be used not for simulating other devices, but simply
for getting maximum output from an Epson Pro 7500 with third party ink and
third party papers.
Has anybody tried the IProof?
Smooth transitions are most important, so maybe Colorbyte is the way to go?

Hi Udo,
If producing smooth transitions is the most important thing for you in a
RIP, then yes, ColorByte's ImagePrint is definitely the way to go. I've
been using it for almost a year with a 5500 and a 1280 and can tell you no
other RIP can match it's dithering algorithms. PowerRip is cheap, but it
has very course dithering. Like they say... you get what you pay for.
