Epson canned profiles

A number of folks on this list have stated that Epson provides excellent canned profiles with some of the newer printers. I've been working with a 10000CF using the Epson (archival) inks and the Glossy Paper Photo Weight (aka Professional Glossy Paper). I tested the Epson profile by using the famous test image Andrew Rodney had on his web site a while back, converting in PS6 and then choosing NCA in the USB driver. My hopes were dashed: I find *major* problems with shadow details, such as in the area underneath the arch and in the girls' dark hair. So much for the canned profiles then?!

Haven't tried a custom profile yet, but I should note that I get much better results (as far as shadow detail) with Automatic setting, not using a printer profile at all. Hmmm.

Armand
