Not the only; but with the low cost of USB cards, its probably the most
practical.
This is probably the best advice. I believe though, that the add-on Apple
USB drivers that a beige G3 needs do not support the latest version of the
USB protocol, 2.XX I believe.
You then need either an OHCI compatible 1.XX/2.XX card or a 1.XX card. And
you won't have a fast USB port for fast peripherals but quite OK for
Spyders and other sensors.
Check the release notes for the 1.4.1 USB drivers.
