Khoo,
It's very easy to disable any CM on the Fiery side (I'd assume there's
something similar on the Splash side, but I don't have much exposure to this
RIP). When you're printing your test chart through the driver, set your CMYK
Simulation PPD option to "Match Copy." Match Copy bypasses the internal
calibration of the Fiery as well as the Output Profile. Your print will
probably be somewhat darker than anything you've been able to get so far.
This is normal and expected. But it's not very effective.
When I profile the Fiery devices, I do so after calibrating the Fiery (this
is always done after the copier is linearized), but I set the CMYK
Simulation option to NONE. This maintains the calibration curve. I maintain
the curve because the only way to bypass the cal curve in the driver is to
use Match Copy. In my experience, the color copier is so unpredictable that
match copy will give you varied results in very small time frames...which
isn't beneficial to anybody. When the Fiery controls the output via
calibration, the print results are more consistent (6.7 D on a 2000 run,
versus 10.2 D using Match Copy).
