Our lease is up on our two Canon CLC 1120s + v55 RIPs. We have been fairly
happy with these units except in the area of color matching CMYK builds and
Pantones (the holy grail). The units are also very finicky when it comes to
environmental changes - we calibrate the copier and the RIP daily at a
minimum.
We are looking at the Canon CLC 1140 with the EFI or new EDOX RIP or a Xerox
DocuColor 12 with a Splash or Imation RIP. Has anyone compared the output
from these units or have experience with these units. Do they produce
consistent output? How is the reliability? How is the color matching on
CMYK builds? Any funky tendencies?
Other info: we use Quark for our page building and place either low-res
(92dpi) scans from our separator (APR process) or in-house scans from a
profiled Epson scanner. We use Quarks color management using profiles
created for our Canon.
Thanks,
Shan Younker
