If I understand your post, ImagePrint by Colorbyte might be a little more
expensive than you want, so Colorbyte offers lower cost options that only
handle bitmap and not outlines of vector images. This option is a nice
utility for handing profiles as well as spooling in the background. It is an
interesting option if all you do is bit map images.
In some cases the cost is dramatically less.
