The software is placing the profile in the right location as you ARE seeing
it as an option in Photoshop's Color Settings (hopefully at the top of the
list where you see "Monitor-XXX" where XXX is the name of the profile.
DO NOT pick this as your Working Space! Use Adobe RGB. Photoshop is using
the profile for preview purposes correctly if you see it listed as I
mentioned above. That's all you need to worry about as far as the display
profile is concerned.

Not good. Can you open the file in a non ICC savvy application (that doesn't
use the display profile) like Picture Viewer and see if this still shows up.
If not, you can highly suspect that the display profile is very bad.
