The DTP51 computed colorimetric density, not equal to any ANSI status
density, but used by a number of RIP vendors for linearization with good
results. Being a colorimeter and not a spectro, Status density could not
be computed.

AFAIK, the DTP51 can't read density, that's right, Ray could confirm. If
you've used it to linearize printers for years, it must be because those
RIP software must have been using L* data to linearize because all the
instrument gets them is CIE Lab or XYZ or xyY or Lch.
