The i1 with the iCColor are the combination of choice, for emission
monitor readings, and for reflection print readings in spot, strip and
true xy scanning mode.
The Spectroscan(T) is a specialized tool. If you need to measure the
crazy IT8.7-3 original layout (*), you need the Spectroscan. If you
need polarization for rough papers, you need the Spectroscan. If you
need a choice of backings for xy capture, you need the Spectroscan. If
you need transmission readings, you need the SpectroscanT. There are
dozens of specialized applications for it, but it is not fast and it is
not compact.
(*) The standard does not define the layout, as if one were to assume
that the Spectroscan does measure as per standard and the i1 and
iCColor do not. The layout is defined by the needs of the instrument.
