What images? Towards what means? As before noted repro of an expected scene
is helped by profiling. There's a certitude that many photos will be made
that don't correspond to any profile and the creation should remain just
that. With the advent of digital photography lest not be undermined the
essence of photography including film rendering as creation , not to be cast
into fixed "space" by what color management calls correct colour.

In the consumer/pro-sumer space yes. In the pro space, no.
Pro just means getting paid for pictures, not the content or intent of the
photographs being made. In any case if the images are coming into a
calibrated system they will be in a working space whether or not through a
profile lack of or ACR or Phase One etc. So in the end you're saying that a
profiled camera is the best way to go for the pro "type" photographer. Do
you think it's a profiled camera that will cover all needs for all pro
photographers? Also is it as Steve K asked, which kit what is working, what
profilers if then, is what we'd all like to know.
With the number of digital cameras that will be in the hands of
photographers this year a new way of doing DC CM will have to come to light.
I'm confident that developers like yourself that listen well and have
innovation will make this happen. Already what has been done in CM for non
capture has brought DTP to everyone. Digital capture CM will be the new
road.
