The Spyder stuff is for the monitor; for printers you would be referring to
either the consumer level software called ProfilerPLUS, or the more
professional package called ProfilerPRO. PLUS is not a product to consider
for professional work, so I will assume its PRO you are referring to. Also,
you don't explain what you mean by working in CMYK. This could mean Inkjets
with CMYK RIPs, or color lasers (and certain other types of devices) with
built in PostScript, or you could be refering to CMYK prepress work.
ProfilerPRO is not documented and supported for press profiling. It does an
excellent job on many types of inkjet/laser/dyesub CMYK profiling, though its
methods are different than other software, so following the directions is
important. There is no question it is the most affordable package to offer
control of all the elements in CMYK profiles (it allows you to create your
own black generation curve, set UCR, GCR, even UCA, as well as total and
black ink limits and dot gain curves) and is well worth trying out if you are
looking for affordable CMYK profiling software.
