My problem is fairly simple to explain, but even the simplest use of
ColorSync is readily confusing.
We work mostly on G4 Quicksilver Macs, primarily using OS9.2, but are
migrating to OS 10x. For purposes of this question, lets keep it to OS9.
Our company prepares printed reports that contain graphics, photographs,
maps, and company logos. Different parts of the report are prepared in
different applications - MicroSoft Word & Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
Photoshop, InDesign, Freehand, and eventually all these different files are
rendered to Acrobat 4 PDFs.
Microsoft does seem to be ColorSync-able, therefore, our company logo
printed from within Word or Excel does not come out the same as it does in
the graphics apps and Photoshop. Also, even though I have tried to set up
Ilustrator and the others with consistent settings throughout, the logos
come out slightly different in each program.
Also opening color documents that have a different profile are problematic
as to how they are handled. Nowhere do I find a cogent explanation of how to
set up these apps to produce a consistent result.
We do have to have absolutely accurate color - the best stuff that emerges
from the printer is close enough - BUT WE NEED CONSISTENCY. How can we get
it?
