Illustrator color management is well covered in Real World Color Management.
Kudo to the authors for sweating out the details, btw.
In a nuthsell, if your friend want to simulate the Lightjet from
Illustrator, all he has to to is to assign the LightJet profile (RGB, I
assume) to the RGB Working Space. Illustrator will ignore the embeded RGB
profile. Illustrator considers ALL objects in the document, both vector and
bitmap, to be in that Working Space.
Color management happens just like in Photoshop. Just print to your RIP
without bothering saving as EPS. And match the LightJet to the profile of
your proofer in the Print dialog box. Couldn't be easier.
Don't forget to assign the LightJet profile to the Illustrator document as
well.
