Re: LAB valuesBruce,
thanks again for your helpful reply.

Second, if it's a dark color, you may want to try a higher gamma on the
scanner. I usually find that the sweet spot is somewhere between gamma 2.7
and 3.1.
I tried it but the profil was getting even worse. In fact, the last 4 steps
of the gray step became totally black. As far as I can see Silverfast
version 6.0.2r39 has a bug in the IT calibration module. When I go back to
6.0.1r44 I am able to use a higher gamma setting again although the general
behaviour of the profil deviation does not change by much (max=16.62).
I have another question regarding the LAB values. As Chris pointed out I
should use the absolute colorimetric setting in Photoshop's Color Settings
in order to see the correct LAB values if I want to check the profiling
results. But while the LAB values change with different rendering intents it
seems that the color of the patches does not change. I thought that the
monitor profile translates the device independant LAB values into device
dependant monitor RGB values. What am I missing ???
Thanks,
Peter
