I'm building a new studio that will be dedicated to photo retouching and
color correction. I know how to make a viewing box (I found some interesting
info on this web page:
http://www.shootsmarter.com/viewingbooth.html).
But I'm not sure of a couple of thing.
I will work with a calibrated Apple Studio Display. I will use the viewing
boot but I like to be able look at my picture under the studio lightning
too. In other words I don't want to work in a too dark ambience, and I
prefer that the lightning of the room to be "acceptable" to briefly look at
my prints.
I prefer to use Gamma 1.8, white 6500K. If something could be better, I
would like to know why.
Someone suggest to me to use 5500K fluorescent lights directed toward the
ceiling and use the neutral gray paint mentioned on the web site for wall.
How could I know which deg K is the best for me. If the monitor is
calibrated to 6500K, should I use 6500K for the room and the viewing box for
example? I don't think but why? I think that the standard for viewing should
be D50 but some peoples use other white point. Why?
What is the best color for the wall, a true neutral gray or a "true" white.
(I could get from my paint retailer a special white paint used in theater. I
don't remember the brand but it's supposed to be a white who will not
disturb the color of the lightning tubes).
Is the color of the floor really important? Etc...
Any advice on this theme will be greatly appreciated.
