Just a shot in the dark about your funny lino readings in PM4.1.5 in
emmision mode.
Next time you start getting those funny readings, pull the lino off the
monitor and look at the sensor / lamp. Is the light inside the lino coming
on like it's stuck in reflection mode? Mine does this often in 10.2.6
w/keyspan on G3's. To correct, launch measuretool and switch to reflective
then measure a few fake reflective patches, then switch back to emmision and
try the monitor again. Usually works the second time for me.
Your problem might be worse than this.

OS X 10.2.6
Dual 1Ghz G4 - 1.5 GB RAM
Apple 22" Cinema Display
Profile Maker 4.1.5a with a Spectrolino
Keyspan serial to USB adapter USA-28X B
I use Profile Maker to calibrate and then profile the Cinema Display.
During the calibration stage I get odd readings during the brightness,
color
temp and luminance measurements. For instance the measured luminance is
2147483 Cd/M2. It is a bright display but not that bright.
If I continue on to the calibration it stops with the error "An error in
the
color modules occoured.Illegal argument. Error 20703."
I have several Macs running OS X. I get the same results on all of them. I
have even loaded OS X fresh from the CD with the same results.
This even occurs with PM 4.1
I thought my Spectrolino was going bad. However, under OS 9 on a beige G3
it
works fine.
I even swapped out the Keyspan.
