Matt,
I've already profiled a couple of large web CIs. And one of the site I've
profiled uses an EPSON 10000 to simulate the press. Someone sold them a KPG
Matchrint RIP (a modified BEST RIP). I've been able to calibrate and profile
their EPSON 10000 dye to yield a very close match of the press so I don't
see why you couldn't do the same thing with an EPSON 9000.
Personally, I use BEST colorproof and I think it will give you the
performance and flexibility you're looking for with your Nexus system.
As far as BEST colorproof vs screenproof, I think it's a decision of
workflow as screenproof requires that the job be ripped first whereas if you
go with colorproof, like me, you can just print from whathever application
directly. Personally, again from my experience, showing 100lpi or 120lpi
dots (latest trend in flexo printing) on a contract proof does not change my
appreciation of the color capabilities of the press.

Thanks in advance for any input. (yeah, I'm green at this, but I'm having
