epson 1270 rip

Hi, I'm finding serious banding/fringing problems in some shadow areas, in areas where they fade out, especially where reds/browns are involved. The same file sent to a lightjet or LED for output prints fine. After much trial and error, futzing with color and luminance brushes and noise I can usually fix it but I'm wondering if there's an alternative rip for this printer that avoids this. I'm converting from adobe1988 to appropriate epson profiles before sending to the printer with no color adjustment. This usually shows the problem areas in advance, although I've experimented with pretty well every other possibility I can think of as well.

thanks for any help or ideas,

Dave Robertson
