But isn't adobe Gamma a control panel, and thus gets loaded at the end
of
the startup procedure?
It's just an application, you don't even need to install it in order to
create a profile. You can launch it from anywhere. Do a "Get Info" on
it, it's a Classic Application. It doesn't do anything at boot time.
There's no need to remove it (or to install it anywhere special, for
that matter).
