For those who are interested in working with PDF 1.3 pages the European
Color Initiative has published a PDF/X-3 compliance test suite. The
suite is freeware and includes both documentation and test A3 pages.
The test pages check the capabilities of the RIP which is doing the
rendering.
The test suite is listed as the 'Altona Test Suite' named after the
Hamburg suburb where some of the work was done. To access the test
suite, select either the German or English index pages.
The ECI approach towards free distribution of technical information is
the best way to get everyone in the workflow talking on the same level,
from manufacturers to prepress operators to document designers.
