Shawn King talks about this on YourMacLife Jan 1 show. Hopefully as things

I've had this happen occasionally. I usually catch it right away as the grey
desktop appearance begs attention.

Yes , so far it has worked. I've even had the monitor fall to thousands of
colors without my asking.
Most things have been sorted out as far as start up files in verbose. There
is still one last line that shows an error; couldn't alloc class NVDANV10Hal
(class allocation) or something like that. Must be a Nvidia driver problem
for the stock OEM Nvidia 2MX card.
