Good luck with that phone call.
Otherwise, you will be doom to either operate your scanner when booted under
OS9 *or* if ViewScan (Hamrick software) supports it under OSX, you'll be OK.
For a while, I was able to access my Umax PowerLook 1100 (Firewire) under
OSX with a Umax MagicScan v5 beta. But all bets were off the moments I
installed Jaguar. Since then, that beta has not been updated. And my only
resort: ViewScan. It works great, nothing fancy, no cute GUI or Aqua-type
glowing button. But it works. So, it might be a cure for you too.
