I only know of two system profile folders:
/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
and
~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles (the one in your user folder).
I put em in both. doesn't seem to matter to apps.
now, Adobe is fond of "secret" profile folders, and Nikon and probably
others do the same thing, so searching for *.icc/icm/pf is going to give you
a big ol' mess of directories that contain profiles, only two of which
(above) are going to be useful to you.
