When I was running the old Radius PressView (which if memory serves me would
only calibrate to 5000K), I was quite happy with the print to screen match.
I've since found in most cases, I get better screen to print matching using
6500K with my newer displays (including the son of PressView the Sony
Artisan).
I know if you all search the list, you'll find some very good, scientific
and color theory answers why having a display set to 5000K in most cases
doesn't match a print under a 5000K box. But for me, the bottom line (and
what I advise clients to do) is START with 6500K. IF the print to screen
matching is a bit too blue, try 5000K. Use whatever provides you good print
to screen matching (in the right ambient environment, with a good 5000K box
preferably with a dimmer).
This goes along with the numerous posts about which rendering intent is
"better." If you want the long answer, there are again probably hundreds of
posts discussing the merits of Perceptual verses RelCol. I simply tell
people to use one that produces the preview in Photoshop they prefer.
Simple. Easy.
The list still has no definitive answer to the question "How many ICC
profiles can fit on the head of a pin." <g>
