As a matter of fact, at the risk of defying all logic, I have a GTI D5000
Soft-View sitting right next to my faithful Mitsu900u and I am happy to
report that I am quite pleased with the visual white point match! But I will
agree that a) my ambient room luminance could use some bump up (like C.D.
Suggested) to make 6500K feasible and b) if I had to do this over, without
any a priori knowledge of calibration, I would use 6500K as a starting point
and decide later if I like it that way. Both of these makes sense.
I have to confess that, in my studio, I have a PC calibrated at 6500K. But I
don't use it for color critical work (I think Macs are better suited for
that -- sorry, I couldn't keep my loud mouth shut here, flame me all you
want...)
"How many ICC profiles can fit on the head of pin" still eludes me too. Oh
well, happy new year everyone.
