those ICC profiles there is a bit of confusion. Our work around has
been to do a search in finder and put all our ICC profiles in 3 of
the four colorsync folders. I am sure there must be a clearer way to
do this. But, swoon, by gosh OS 10 is great.

I only know of two system profile folders:
/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
and
~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles (the one in your user folder).
I put em in both. doesn't seem to matter to apps.
now, Adobe is fond of "secret" profile folders, and Nikon and probably
others do the same thing, so searching for *.icc/icm/pf is going to give you
a big ol' mess of directories that contain profiles, only two of which
(above) are going to be useful to you.
Three:
I just put an alias of the Classic System Folder>ColorsyncProfiles folder into:
OSX ~library>ColorSync>Profiles folder
OSX User>Library>ColorSync>Profiles folder
OSX System>library>ColorSync>Profiles folder
and then shovel everything into the OS9 Colorsync folder. Saves a lot
of duplication and doubling up in menus. Nikon and other third party
apps can also be 'tripped' into the OS9 folder with an alias but it's
more trouble than its worth.
The OSX System>library>ColorSync>Profiles folder will always retain
(regenerate) the Generic CMYK, RGB, Gray, XYZ and Lab system default
profiles, plus sRGB and keep them present there.
