Can you use a monitor profile made by OptiCal in OS9 in OSX? I have
been doing so by copying the profile created in OS9 into the OSX
ColorSync folder and then choosing it in the OSX Displays panel.
I am using this workaround because I have OptiCal 2.5 (an OS9
version)with a Sequel puck. There is no upgrade path from OptiCal 2.5
to an OSX version (according to Colorvision) without buying a new copy
of OptiCal and a Spyder. I am trying to avoid doing so for a few
months until I can buy a Sony Artisan. Thus I am trying to get by for
awhile by booting into OS9 periodically to recalibrate, creating a
profile, and then copying it into OSX.
I would assume that a monitor profile created in OS9 would work fine in
OSX, but I don't fully understand the impact that the OptiCal program
itself has once the profile is created. Everything seems to look fine,
but I am wondering if there are any pitfalls I am missing before I
embark on quite a bit of scanning, photoshoping and printing in OSX.
Thanks,
