Is it really the _Adobe_ Graphics Model in OS/X?
I think this is best answered by Apple.
Ever since the original 1984 QuickDraw engine to drive a screen the use
of PostScript constructs has been a matter where writers like me should
step carefully.
GX was an independent graphics model which translated into PostScript
using the programming capabilities of PostScript when constructs were
not available in PostScript which GX supported. That much at least is
official.
