I'm facing terrible problems with the Phaser 7700!
As a last hope, please Mr. CD Tobie, do you think PrintOpen + DTP41 will be applicable to this printer? (I believe even this will work I need to do it t.i.d.) If it don't work I think Xerox should recall (at least my) 7700!
PrintOpen is a bit outdated as profiling software... but the real question is can you use professional color profiling software are hardware to accurately profile the 7700. The answer is: within the print quality of the 7700, it can be color managed to offer reasonably accurate color... but unlike an inkjet its not a one time process... you may need to reprofile it every time the weather changes.

Thank you for the confirmation Mr. CD Tobie! While the PrintOpen + DTP41 will be provided by a friend for tryout and test before I shell out the BIG buck, I'm open to and appreciate other (maybe better) solutions. I'm not familiar with PrintOpen, so please respectful CD Tobie would you recommend other sw/hw combinations? Or I'm willing to pay for tryout profiling, just to ensure I buy the right things.
My 7700 is not intended for contract proof which apparently it couldn't, I'm using it to provide print service to some small local prepress / ad agency / design companies for layout proof and color short-run, but it is not to say they will accept drunken face (skin totally shifted) quality which is one of the big problems I'm having, among many others! Now my business is in comma.
And here is what I mailed to Acrobat list for your ref:

I'm having TERRIBLE problems with the Phaser 7700 wrt color, it's totally shifted and unable to be calibrated using the printer's calibration method, I'm trying PrintOpen + DTP-41, if that don't work I think Xerox should recall the 7700. Will report you after next week.

Super fast, reliable, and the color's not too bad.
"super fast": Yes it is super fast, but I believe that's the origin of the problems I'm facing, "super fast = high fuser imaging temperature = color shift".
"reliable": If you print 50 (or just 20) copies of a doc with color image, you SHOUL NOT expect the 50th copy to be in the same color with the 1st copy!
"the color's not too bad": Try print the PDI target on the 7700, then print it on a DC12, see what the difference! Seeing is believing. I suggest anyone considering the 7700 do that before write the check.
I've verified the problems at least on three 7700s, Xerox technicians has been helping me but it seems that is the 7700. I don't have experience on other phasers.
