But is there any test one can do to determine if a monitor profile is

I have experienced this first hand with three different instruments, all of
which were happily replaced by ColorVision (thanks David Tobie). What
causes them to go bad is anybody's guess...and I hope that the newly added
DTP-92 support is a sign of more things to come (iOne support PLEASE!). The
Spyder is an OK instrument...but I don't trust them.
As far as testing a monitor profile...just display a known good image (like
the PDI image) and see if it looks "good" to you. I suppose you could get
more scientific and display an image of a MacBeth card with a iOne or
Spectrolino and see how those numbers hold up against reference data...but
that is going a bit far IMO. Call ColorVision and tell them what is
happening to you...I think they owe you a replacement instrument.
