Can't say for sure whether the 7600 is faster than the 7000 but I'll stick
to my comment about the 10K series being at least 3-4x faster than the
7600/9600 printers.

Inkjet contract proofing: FYI Creo is developing a contract proofing system

All depends on how you define a "contract proof". I happen to be one of
those that believes a good inkjet proofer with a decent RIP and and good
profiles is actually a CLOSER match to press than the so-called contract
proofing systems out there. Hell, I make a living at doing exactly that.
None of the old analog proof systems and current crop of digital halftone
systems can properly simulate wet ink trapping and, to a lesser extent,
match press ink hues precisely. But I'm still not sure if I'd call an inkjet
proof a "contract proof" as it lacks the capacity to be a true mechanical
proof (Best ScreenProof and BlackMagic notwithstanding).
Which brings me to a question that's been bugging me that I'll pose in a
separate post.
