cheers, oscar
Oscar,
It means that the Apple LCD displays have been SWOP certified, when
calibrated with an EyeOne, using proprietary profiling algorithms
developed by Integrated Color Solutions (ICS).
Yes, this means that the Apple LCD displays are very color accurate
when calibrated this way. ICS is the only company to have obtained
SWOP certification, and in fact the Apple web site at
http://www.apple.com/displays/ specifically mentions ICS technology
with respect to this, and links directly to the ICS web site at
http://www.icscolor.com.
(In the "News and Events" section on the ICS web site, the
"SWOP Certified" news item has more details about exactly
what SWOP certification means).
Remote Director is the specific ICS product which has been SWOP
certified when used in combination with an Apple LCD and an
EyeOne, and the same technology in Remote Director is also used
in the ICS basICColor Display application. If you calibrate an
Apple LCD with basICColor Display, you'll reap the benefits of
this.
It's worth noting that basICColor Display supports measuring
devices other than the EyeOne, such as the new Sequel
Squid display calibrator, which is suitable for taking
measurements from both CRTs and LCDs. I've obtained excellent
results from calibrating my 22" Apple LCD with the Squid,
which means that it is well worth considering as a lower
cost alternative for measuring devices.
Regards,
David Miller
