Hi David,
You are asking a very big question that would require me to write a book to
properly answer your question. I can't do that on this forum. However,
several people who appear of this forum have written a book that does answer
your question. The book is titled "Real World Color Management" by Bruce
Fraser, Chris Murphy, and Fred Bunting. You can find it on any of the
online bookstores.
I would point out that your Cromalin should be a stable aiming point that is
easy for your press persons to hit on press without any color management.
If this is correct than you can use a profile of your Cromlin and Inkjet
printer to cause the Inkjet to emulate the Cromlin. See page 200 in RWCM to
understand why it is not necessarily a good idea to profile a press. It is
very important that you not profile a press by making a profile from a
single target on a single press sheet. Presses are not as stable as
proofing devices and can be moved over a large operating envelope by the
press operator.
I am assuming that you are printing with AM screens and not using CTP.
Check out the book. I think you will like it.
