It may help you get more accurate Pantone matches by either supplying the

correct Lab values for Pantone colors for use in the RIP, or providing

Is Illustrator Pantone Certified?
Is Quark Pantone Certified?
My Onyx is Pantone Certified.
What more do I need to do other than spec the color in those apps and
send it to that rip?
How do I know what the lab color is for a particular color? Can I create
it in Photoshop and change the model to lab?
How do I spec an lab value in Quark?
