One other mac rip I know of is the Firey Spark. It works just like the
Firey but it runs on the mac. I think is around $1k.
Also, if you are considering only printing raster images then the ColorBurst
X-Photo and X-Proof are OSX contenders. They just finished updating the
screening and how the linearization works using the L value. And its
screening is now as good as any other product in the market. You can get a
two week + trial from the Compatsys.com site to test these raster rips out.
Its about half the price of any competition.
I have set up a few of the XPhotos in the last month and my clients are
finding the right-out-of-the -box experience (that is without doing custom
profiles) is a blow away for printing grayscale and color images.
Another good contender is the ImagePrint product that should offer a good
right-out-of-the -box experience.
However, no one rip is perfect they all have their share of warts.
