New Mac OS tool for NEC/Mitsubishi display monitor adjustment

I'm posting the following information to this group since it may be of interest to readers in the Mac color community.

NEC/Mitsubishi Display Electronics has developed a monitor control application called NaViSet that allows NEC and Mitsubishi brand CRT and LCD monitors to be adjusted directly via software. A Windows version of this software has been available for about 18 months, however Mac OS versions are now in final beta and are available for free download from: http://www.necmitsubishi.com/naviset

The software provides easy access to both screen geometry and color controls. In addition to being able to select different color presets, adjustments to individual RGB Gains can be made (if supported by the monitor model). This should make it easy for anyone using a 3rd party calibration tool that requires manual adjustment of the monitor for optimal results.

Controls for color bias are provided when used with the latest 22" CRT models - a feature that should be very useful for anyone wanting to do highly accurate manual color balancing. This feature is available via the software only and is not available when using the OSD controls.

Versions are available for both Mac OS 9 (requires 9.0.4 or newer) and OS X (requires 10.1.5 or newer). The software does not require any additional cables or drivers to be installed.

A list of supported monitors and FAQs is available on the website.

Since this is in final beta, I would like to encourage anyone trying this software on their NEC or Mitsubishi monitor to please submit comments and feedback either to me directly or via the feedback form on the website.

Thanks
