Hello Chris,
Thanks for your reaction on my question.
I like to say that I love your book. It's the best color managing book I
have read.
I like to explain my question a bit more specific,
We work a lot for the Ad companies with large campaigns for Adidas,
Nike, Diesel, Renault, ect.
They publish there ad's in different printing processes like Sheet-fed,
Web_Offset and En-gravure,
Ideal would be to have a LAB workflow, or RGB workflow, but we don't
always agree with the results which we get after separating with the
specified ICC profiles, and our operators are not used in color
corrections in LAB or RGB.
The best option is to do the color corrections with the tools from
Photoshop and store them in the profiles, so you start for each file
with the base profile (like Euro Sheet_fed) and color correct the
profile not the file.
But!!!!!!!, how do you now that the rip is able to see the corrections,
how do you deal with rendering intent, how do you deal with sharpness?
That's why we go to Sheet_fed cmyk, we do some retouching and color
corrections, we proof on our Digital Cromalin or Epson 9600.
When we have the finals, we have to go to different processes, like I
told you before. These files, (PDF files) will be send to the different
printing houses.
For this part I like to use the colormanaging on the PDF's.
Hope it's more clear now,
Thanks for your time.
