Its possible that some of this is video feed related; to check this attach
the monitor to a different Mac, with a different model of video and ideally a
different cable. Chances are this won't change things but its worth checking.
Once you know that its the monitor, the best you can do is to calibrate for
the main screen color, ignore the red area at one edge (this sounds worse then
the faint discoloration at edges or corners that these screens sometimes
develop), and then just worry about the rose red and white flashing issue, which
doesn't sound like anything I've seen an any Cinema Display. Try deleting all
custom profiles and running with a canned Cinema profile, just as an experiment
to be sure that has nothing to do with it; sometimes profiles with a forced
whitepoint cause issues such as artifacting around the cursor.
