You might find that the provided profiles suit your needs just fine...they
really are quite good. Some would argue that custom profiles on top of the
RIP produces even better results, but we're really starting to split hairs
here. As an exercise I built custom profiles for all of my papers and
compared them to ColorByte's profiles. In some cases mine were marginally
better, while some showed only minimal differences. If you don't want to
open the Pandora's box of buying your own profiling tools, and then
learning how to use those tools then the ImagePrint option is very
attractive.
The RGB vs. CMYK thing is another argument entirely, but my feeling is that
handling your printer as a RGB device is simpler...and in fact is the way
ColorByte would tell you to do it. Building CMYK profiles is not for the
timid...
