Now why would I want to do that? I have a network of Macs running OS
10... Buy a PC to run a RIP for my printers? The problems that
Cris Daniels mentioned about the OS X version are also concerning.
Locking up a computer to print might have been acceptable 10 years ago,
but not anymore. No layout or preview tools are also a significant
handicap. What else is missing from the OS X version of ColorBurst
compared with the "full" Windows version?
ImagePrint is sounding more appealing... +/- custom profiling on top of
the RIP. It's interesting to see where one gets led after posing
relatively naive questions to a group of experts. Thanks to all who
have sent me advice. It's a lot more satisfying than plunking down $$$
for something that might not work or be appropriate.
