Hey Ryan,
X-Rite will be releasing a product called PrintCheck that does exactly what
you are looking for. Print check allows you to define a strip (colors can be
created manually or measured from a reference). Once a strip is defined, you
can produce it on anything - proofers, presses, whatever. The user can then
collect any type of data they wish from the strip (Density - multiple
status, Lab - multiple illuminant, etc...) and load the data into the
PrintCheck database. The database can give you all sorts of feedback
including pass/fail, E on specific colors, average E, etc... It's geared
to run as a client/server app and allows different users to have different
access levels and to access the database from multiple points.
Combined with ColorshopX (currently available - views 2d/3d gamuts, has
pantone library, makes NCP, gray, and rich black profiles, lots of other
stuff) it makes for a potent set of QA tools for color critical workflow
environments.
