Actually Linocolor doesn't do a good job with negs at all. If you want to or
need to, with Linocolor 5+6 see my site under ICC color management>Scanning
negs with Linocolor. Newcolor does a decent job on negs with many profiles
(yes HDM has profiles for negs).

I think the last high end flat beds do a good job on negs, i.e.; Fuji and
Scitex. Photographically speaking the results from the Fuji are more to my
liking. That'd be personal preferences though. Both run on OSX.
If you're mostly happy with your Crosfield scans there is another
possibility other than a film scanner Imacon, Minolta , Nikon or other. That
is to scan the negative as a positive on your Crosfield and buy Silverfast
HDR to process the negs with their highly editable Negafix routine. You
could always download a demo and try out this method.
