Gee Andrew, you forgot to mention Monaco Optix while you were at it. Both
cost a bit more than the Spyder, but a bit less than the SpyderPRO, with OptiCAL
software. Both units are based on the same generation of Sequel sensor. Both
appear to be slow starting up at the moment, so its a bit difficult to judge
how they will fare in the market once they are moving in larger numbers. Perhaps
the current problems are startup issues, but its impossible to know until
there are lots of users, not beta testers, running them and reporting back. I've
tried a few of them, and while I had one unit with problems at the black end,
they otherwise built quite acceptable profiles, though I miss the OptiCAL
features I'm accustomed to, ColorGeek that I am...
