Subject: Evaluating input profiles - ColorLab and RW Color Mgt

Hi Gang,
I've read Bruce Fraser et al. book entitled "Real World Color
Management." Terrific book, very detailed, highly recommended.
However, I'm struggling with the evaluation of scanner profiles. The
challenge is, I'm having a difficult time converting the RGB values to
LAB to do the evaluation in ColorLab. The application suggests
converting the RGB values to ColorLab (pg. 229) using the Filter | ICC
| LogoSync... However, you need a Generic Lab Profile (Lab) as the
destination profile - maybe I'm missing something, but where do you
acquire that destination profile?
Cheers,
Derek Cooper

Derek, Gretag IQueue has a Lab profile you can download from the downloads
section of IQueue. This should work, as long as your source data is standard
D50 illuminant. They have a build in Lab Profile that is CMM dependent
(LOGO). For ColorSync and other CMMs this profile should work.
Look for "Lab_Profile(D50).icc"
It might be worth making sure that LogoSync does not have a lab profile
tuned to THEIR connection space (CMM)
Hope this helps,
