Polarized vs. Non Polarized

  • Subject: Polarized vs. Non Polarized

I have been doing some profiles on fabric (Dye Sublimation) and have been doing some general tests on the 'Lino/Spectroscan with the Polarized head and the unfiltered head.

The profiles I did with the polarized head showed much higher Lab results in the captured data, but the overall color profile was lighter than the Unfiltered head. Without the Polarizer, the density values of the inks are quite low (Max being 1.5 C and 1.4 K to point out a couple).
However, the overall profile looks better with the unfiltered head.

What are the pros/cons of the polarizer head on the 'Lino? If I use the Polarizer, can I get the profile to appear more saturated?

I am using Monaco 3.2 (I know it's an antique... and I am working on the upgrade), and ICS.

Also, I have some materials that have UV brighteners in them and if it comes to me being able to use the Polarizer for brighter color, is there a way for me to manually edit the read data to remove the UV error? (I cannot use the UV and the polarizer together...)

Mike
