I have been a PC user since the first IBM was released. Yesterday, I
broke down and bought a Power Mac. Why? Because I have been
"struggling" with color management with Win2K for the past two years.
Since the Mac is the industry standard, I have always felt that I have
been fighting my own battles instead of the industries battles.
Buying the Mac was the worst "out of box" experience I have ever had.
It took 3 hours and 3 friends to figure out how to turn the Mac on.
After pressing the power button hundreds of times, it finally powered
on. OK...I am up an running. Just don't turn it off.
Now for the question about Optical. I am using OS X 10.2.3 and Optical
3.7.4. During the calibration in precision mode, Optical asks me to set
the brightness to my target of .30 cd/m2. The Spyder is attached and it
measures anywhere from .15-.30 cd/m2. The measurements are bouncing all
over the place. Something is definitely wrong. The measurement have
always bounced around on Win2K but not to this extreme. Is this a
software or driver issue? Is this a hardware problem now revealed
because I am on a Mac? I have no idea.
Any help would be appreciated,
Craig
