I seldom use OS 9, but I am using icc profiles on OS X, without
modification, that were generated on a Windows computer. The OS could
care less.
I usually print from Photoshop 7.01, and I turn off ColorSync in the
printer driver and specify the output (printing) profile in the Print
with Preview dialog box. This works well. i seldom print from other
programs, so I have no idea whether the OS X driver "does not have the
same color management control" as the OS 9 driver. The OS X driver
does not have roll paper capability and some other things (yet), but
color management? I don't follow, perhaps because I seldom use OS 9 to
print with.

I have never had any success with the printer driver choosing the
correct output profile. How could it possibly know what output profile
I want to use?
