Personally, I think the key is the source image, and the
target printer. More specifically, what is the gamut in the
source image, and what can your printer accurately
reproduce. Perceptual will compress the tonal range of the
image to get it to fit within the gamut of the target
device, thus shifting in-gamut colours (mid and quarter
tones) as well which may not be desirable. Relative will
clip out-of-gamut colours and reproduce the closest hue
without shifting in-gamut colours. The other two I don't
bother with for various reasons. Try the two intents in your
workflow and see which you prefer.
